LEWISBERG, Pa – The Marist women’s tennis team completed play at the Bison Invite Sunday afternoon. The Red Foxes completed doubles and singles matches capping off the weekend long tournament hosted at Bucknell University.
In doubles play, Sophia Moeller and Jada Tijani teamed up to win 6-0 over Binghamton’s Furer and Haykal to win the finals of the flight 2 back draw.
Sophia Chavarria and Chloe Lant fell 7-5 to Donchu and Hutchinson, placing second in the flight 2 main draw.
The Red Foxes dropped both their remaining singles matches as Sam Galu fell to Niagara’s Gamel, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) and Chloe Lant also fell to Niagara’s Som, 6-4, 6-2.
“The women had an excellent showing at the Bison Invite in their first competition of the new season. They won a number of singles matches, lost 7-5 in the B flight doubles final, and won the B flight doubles backdraw. They played a lot of high intensity, high caliber tennis over the course of the weekend,” said Head coach Gary Sussman.
The Red Foxes will continue on with their fall tournament schedule at the Army West Point Invite on Friday, September 28 – Sunday, September 30.
