NEWBURGH – Why are so many black women dying during and after childbirth? On Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 6:30pm, the Newburgh Healthy Black and Latinx Coalition (NHBLC), Planned Parenthood Mid-Hudson Valley (PPMHV) and Westchester Medical Center Health PPS and Network invite Orange County residents to explore this galling disparity in the U.S. healthcare system by offering a free community screening of Death By Delivery at the Larkin Center at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center on 321 South William Street in Newburgh, NY.
According to the CDC, black women in the U.S. are dying of pregnancy-related complications at almost four times the rate of their white counterparts, and in DEATH BY DELIVERY, journalist Nelufar Hedayat investigates this crisis in maternal care. DEATH BY DELIVERY is an episode from FusionTV series, The Naked Truth, and the screening will be followed by a panel of qualified health experts.
Activities for children are available for attendees, and free snacks and refreshments will be offered at the event.
