Letitia “Tish” James Stomps in Newburgh

NEWBURGH – The Latino Democratic Committee of Orange County , which endorsed Letitia “Tish” James for Attorney General during the primary, welcomed her as their special guest at their Annual Dinner Dance on Saturday, October 13, at Café Internationalé at The Ramada in Newburgh.

“Time and time again, Tish James has stood up for communities in New York — as a public defender, an Assistant Attorney General, a New York City Council Member, and as Public Advocate. We know she will bring the same drive, experience, and knowledge to her work as Attorney General. She will take on bad actors, and protect Latino New Yorkers in Orange County and beyond. We are proud to endorse her today,” said Sonia Ayala, Chair of the Latino Democratic Committee of Orange County.

“We are at a pivotal point, with an illegitimate President trying every day to undermine our rights and roll back critical protections. I’ve spent my career fighting for all New Yorkers, including Latinos. I have been in the forefront of immigrants’ rights, criminal justice reform and was proud to stand with Puerto Ricans in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. As Attorney General, I will continue this work and use the law as a sword and a shield to defend our communities. I’m honored to earn this endorsement today,” said Democratic Attorney General nominee Letitia “Tish” James.

The Latino Democratic Committee of Orange County also enthusiastically endorsed the following candidates for the 2018 election cycle: Hon. Thomas DiNapoli – New York State Comptroller; Hon. James Skoufis – New York State Senate – 39th District; Hon. Jen Metzger – New York State Senate – 42nd District; Matt Rettig – New York State Assembly – 99th District; Hon. Aileen Gunther – New York State Assembly – 100th District; Chad McEvoy – New York State Assembly – 101st District; Hon. Torrance Harvey – Mayor of the City of Newburgh; Hon. Anthony Grice – City of Newburgh Councilman; Reynaldo Hernandez – Woodbury Village Trustee; and Stephen Hunter, Jr. – Woodbury Village Trustee.
