RIVERDALE – The Marist women’s soccer team picked up a 1-0 win over the Manhattan Jaspers Saturday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. With the win the Red Foxes are now 5-2 in conference play and 7-6-1 overall. Manhattan drops to 3-7-2 overall and 2-4-1 in the MAAC.
The Red Foxes and Jaspers would play to a scoreless first half. Marist would finish the first 45 minutes leading in shots 5-3 and corners 5-1.
Marist would finally cash in on its seventh corner of the game as Nicole Sasso headed the ball in off a kick from Alexa Svensson to give the Red Foxes a 1-0 lead.
Marist would hold on from there thwarting all three of the Jaspers’ shot attempts on goal.
