Marist Men’s Basketball Falls at Colgate

HAMILTON – The Marist men’s basketball team was defeated at Patriot League foe Colgate by a score of 82-66 on Saturday afternoon at Cotterell Court. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Red Foxes.

Marist grabbed an early 6-2 lead, but went scoreless for 6:37 left in the first half as Colgate took the lead with a 10-0 run.

Colgate led for the remainder of the first half. The Red Foxes cut their deficit to one on two occasions, but the Raiders led Marist 32-27 at halftime.

Marist closed its deficit to four points with 15:42 to play on a three-pointer by red-shirt junior Aleksandar Dozic, but the Red Foxes did not come closer the rest of the way.

Colgate had a double-digit lead for the last 12:04. The Raiders’ largest advantage was 18 points.

“I thought we were in quicksand, and thought we were moving slow,” head coach John Dunne said. “We’ll have better energy with the remainder of our non-conference games. We have to forget about this one, and move past it.”
