Interfaith Resident Surprised With Celebrity Visit

POUGHKEEPSIE – Senior Residents and guests at the Interfaith Towers in Poughkeepsie, New York celebrated one of their residents, Connie Allen’s 90th Birthday in a special way. They were treated to a surprise appearance from one of their favorite hit television stars. Ralph Carter portrayed the role of Michael Evan’s on the hit CBS TV Show “Good Times” from 1974-1979.

Carter portrayed the role of the youngest child of the Evan’s family alongside Esther Role (Florida Evans) who played his mother, John Amos (who played his father), Jimmy JJ Walker (Brother), Bernadette Stains (sister), Janet Dubois (Willona Woods) and Janet Jackson (Penny) on the show that was number one. Reruns are presently being viewed in homes by millions of fans nationwide. Carter graciously signed cast photos, took pictures with seniors and guests and joined in a scrumptious meal provided by local Jo Jo McClinton Catering along with Herman Wilson and music entertainment by the guest of honor’s grandson DaRon Wilson.

The event was topped off by an emotional 20-year reunion from her sister Delores Dudley and niece Vicky Glenn (former area resident’s) which has touched and inspired many virtually. Constance has been a dedicated member in the community as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt to her own, but also many in the community as she gave years to the education system and most people respectfully refer to her as “Miss Connie”.
