Saint Peter’s took its first lead at the 2:49 mark on a pair of free throws by Davauhnte Turner.

The Red Foxes were held to one field goal over the final seven minutes of the first half, and Saint Peter’s led 34-30 at halftime.

A three-pointer and layup on back-to-back possessions by sophomore guard Austin Williams brought the Red Foxes to within 47-46 with 8:45 to go.

Marist came to one on other occasion, but a three-pointer by Turner with 6:50 left gave Saint Peter’s a 54-48 advantage. The Red Foxes never got closer than four the rest of the way.

“It’s highly disappointing,” head coach John Dunne said. “We want a top five spot in the league, that’s our goal. We fell short today.”
