Free Monthly Weight Loss Education and Support

NEWBURGH – The St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital (SLCH) Institute for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery is now offering free monthly weight loss surgery education and support groups at its Newburgh campus. The sessions will take place the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Seminars begin at 6 p.m., with the support group following at 7 p.m. For more information, or to reserve a space at one of the presentations or support groups, please call (845) 568-2825.

Board certified surgeons currently performing weight loss procedures at SLCH include Dr. Jaime Cepeda (Tri-State Bariatrics), Dr. Seth Judd (Crystal Run Healthcare), Dr. John Powell (Crystal Run Healthcare), Dr. Ramon Rivera (Tri-State Bariatrics), and Dr. Wayne Weiss (Tri-State Bariatrics).

SLCH offers Lap-Band, Sleeve Gastrectomy and Gastric Bypass procedures. Each surgery has a unique profile of effectiveness, safety and risks, and the team of expert surgeons helps patients choose the right operation to fit their needs. The surgeons are very experienced in laparoscopy, and therefore, each of the program’s surgeries is performed laparoscopically.

One of the first steps when considering bariatric surgery is to learn about the different surgical weight loss options available. The free seminar will include how each surgery works, the risks and benefits, as well as how the team can help patients make these important lifestyle changes.

Bariatric Surgery is a life-changing event that requires a team approach for long-term success. The team at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital’s Institute for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery works with each individual patient to ensure that the proper pre- and post-procedure support is provided.

The St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital Institute for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery is accredited as a comprehensive center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®).
