RAMSEY, NJ – Some members of the Newburgh Rowing Club attended the 6th annual Ironman Erg classic, an indoor rowing competition, held at Don Bosco Prep High School in Ramsey New Jersey, on January 26, 2019, according to Coach Ed Kennedy, head coach of the Newburgh Rowing club. This event is the fifth largest indoor rowing race in the Northeast. America Rows and Swims Newburgh (“ARSN”) provided a $500.00 grant to the Newburgh Rowing club to support the trip, said Juliana LoBiondo, director of ARSN.
“Our athletes have been working hard and I am very proud of everyone who participated,“ said Coach Kennedy. “Eileen Corrales took home the gold medal in the High School Girls Coxswain weight race. And all three of our middle school athletes medaled. I think it becomes more impressive when you take into consideration that almost half of our athletes participate in the sport of rowing through scholarships provided by America Rows and Swims Newburgh.”
