POUGHKEEPSIE – The Vassar men’s tennis team went 2-1 in doubles and 4-2 in singles against the visiting Saints on their way to a 6-3 win on Sunday morning. The Brewers are now 8-7 overall and 4-3 in the Liberty League.
In doubles, Vassar took the first court. Allen Sokolov and Jeremy Auh bested Leo Romanetz and Quinn Bermingham 8-6. No. 2 Nicolas Demaria and Matthew Yee were tripped up 8-6 by Nico Haet and Joshua Marvald. At the third court, Adam Krueger and David Gandham swept Spencer Whitmire and Alec Roslin 8-0.
No. 1 Gandham rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Haet. At the second court, Yee was edged 7-6 in the first set, but fell 6-2 in the second. Jamie Anderson tallied the 6-3, 6-2 win over Alec Roslin at the third, and Krueger won 6-1, 6-0 at the fourth spot. Sokolov was tripped up 6-2 in the first set and pulled close in the second, but ultimately fell 7-5 in the final. Nick Lee played the sixth spot, winning 6-3, 6-2 over Arman Tavana.
Vassar travels to Cambridge, MA next on Friday to face MIT at 4 p.m.
