Calli McMullen Headlines Postseason Awards

WORCESTER, MASS. – While both the Army West Point men’s and women’s track and field teams finished second at the Patriot League Championships, several Cadets claimed major awards at the event.

Headlining those awards is junior Calli McMullen, who was named Patriot League Women’s Track Athlete of the Meet. McMullen claimed gold in the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash and the 4×100 meter relay. She also set three Army program records, posting Academy best times in the 100 meter, 200 meter and with her individual split in the 4×400 meter relay. The Haddock, Ga., native was the meet’s highest point scorer. This marks the second consecutive season that she has claimed the award at the Outdoor Championships, as she won the same three events in 2018.

In addition, two Black Knights continued their impressive freshman campaigns, as Justin Young and Emily Mikoud were named Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Rookie of the Meet. The two claimed the same awards after an impressive showing at the Indoor Championships in February.

Young was dominant in the 110 meter hurdles, posting a meet record with a 13.89 time in the event. He also placed second in the 400 meter hurdles and 4×400 meter relay. The Wylie, Texas, native was a four time Patriot League Rookie of the Week in his first season at West Point and also claimed Patriot League Male Athlete of the Week on two occasions.

Mikoud put up several impressive marks in throwing competition on the weekend, led by her gold medal winning performance in the women’s shot put. The Plymouth, Mass., native posted a winning 14.55 meter mark in the event en route to her second Patriot League individual title. She also was strong in the discus throw, recording a distance of 45.21 meters in a third place finish.
