Farrell Wins 400 Hurdles At Army West Point

WEST POINT – The Mount Saint Mary College Men’s Track and Field team had a strong night on Thursday at the Army West Point Twilight Meet. Senior Thomas Hofbauer set a new school record in the steeplechase, while classmate Sean Farrell scored a win for the Knights in the 400-meter hurdles.

Hofbauer kicked off an impressive night running the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the Knight’s breaking the school record and going under 11 minutes for a seventh overall place finish in a new record time of 10:59.98.

Farrell continued his very impressive senior year with a first place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.04, holding off two competitors from Nyack College and Franklin and Marshall University. Farrell also turned in a runner-up finish on the night in the 110-meter hurdles.

In the 100-meter dash Jahnique Dessaline finished fourth in 11.44 seconds and John Novak followed in seventh place for the Knights. Senior Isaiah Bevans-Didymus took the sixth position in the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 23.38 seconds.

In field events, Dabein Walker was sixth in the High jump at 1.86 meters and ninth in the long jump. MSMC Male Scholar Athlete of the Year Noah Ginty made it to finals in the Javelin along with Nick Murphy. Ginty finished eighth overall at 37.08 meters with Murphy taking ninth place at 36.21 meters.

“Awesome job tonight by the men’s team. Sean and Thomas had a very impressive evening for us in a meet that certainly helped us prepare for ECACs next week,” Said Head Coach Fred Callo.
