SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men’s Outdoor Track and Field team wrapped up its season with an 11th place finish at the ECAC Championship meet on Thursday evening.
The 4×100 relay team started off strong in the track events as the team of Nick Murphy, John Novak, Patrick Dempsey and Jahnique Dessaline broke a school record with a time of 43.86. The mark broke the record set in 2017 of 44.89 and was good for a fifth place finish.
Dabein Walker concluded a strong campaign with a third place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.95 meters and eighth in the long jump with a 6.76 meters mark. Peter Zecchin completed his final meet with a 12.71 meters toss in the shot put.
Kenneth Barrett closed his freshman campaign with a sixth place finish in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:17.95. Novak finished fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 50.86 and Isaiah Bevans-Didymus finished eighth in his final meet with a 51.32 mark.
Sean Farrell finished his career with a strong 12th place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a 1:01.36 mark.
Rutgers-Newark picked up the win with 87 points while Marywood finished runner-up with 79 points. Mount Saint Mary finished with 32 points, just trailing 10th place CCNY who had 33 points.
“So proud of these guys, and I am so happy for the seniors, breaking two relay records at the end of their careers is impressive. I will certainly miss the leadership of Zecchin, Farrell, Thomas Hofbauer, and Bevans-Didymus. Barrett had a fantastic meet as well for us along with Walker in the jumps. I thought the entire season was a great success for the track program overall” Said Head Coach Fred Callo.
