Washingtonville CSD Appoints Dr. Washington

WASHINGTONVILLE – The Washingtonville Central School District (WCSD) Board of Education has appointed local educator Dr. Larry Washington as the District’s new Superintendent of Schools.

Dr. Washington is replacing Roy Reese, who is retiring at the end of his contract. Washington, a Warwick resident, is currently the principal at Warwick Valley High School, which serves approximately 1,500 students.

Washington comes to the WCSD with over 24 years of experience in education. Before his time at Warwick, he served as an assistant principal at Suffern High School in Rockland County. He earned his Doctorate in Instructional Leadership from St. John’s University and his Master’s Degree in School Administration and Supervision from Mercy College.

“Dr. Washington’s extensive knowledge and diverse background in education, along with his strong beliefs regarding communication and unity, made him the unanimous choice of the Board of Education,” said Washingtonville Board of Education President Jennifer Dellova.
“We are very excited to welcome him to our District.”

The Board approved his appointment at a Special Board Meeting on June 24. Washington was offered a three-year contract with a $208,000 annual salary. He will begin on August 15 as the Deputy Superintendent, working alongside Mr. Reese. His official start date as Superintendent of Schools is October 1.
