GOSHEN – The Academy of Film Television Stage and Performing Arts is pleased to announce the formation of a summer six (6) class session for Junior Students to commence on July 24, 2019 at 10 am in the St. James Episcopal Church, 1 St. James Place, Goshen, NY.
The Junior Level 1 class is for those students, 8 through 13 that are interested in participating in a professional level class. The Academy currently offers acting classes in the Sanford Meisner Acting Technique and Voice classes in the Seth Riggs Method of ‘Speech Level Singing.’
Graduates of Sanford Meisner, while he was teaching at the Neighborhood Playhouse include: Diane Keaton, Gregory Peck, Jeff Goldblum, Eli Wallach, Robert Duvall, Christopher Lloyd, Mary Steenburgen, Sydney Pollack, Sandra Bullock, Tony Randall, Steve McQueen, Terrence Malik and our own David Patrick Wilson, to name just a few.
‘Speech Level Singing’ is the method taught by Seth Riggs and was used by his student Michael Jackson. This method is still being used by his former students Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Tony Braxton, Michael Bolton, Al Jareau and many ‘American Idol’ and ‘X-Factor’ contestants. It is widely acknowledged as the healthiest and most powerful way to study voice, whether training for opera, rock, pop, hip-hop or techno.
