Enthusiasm For Concert Series Keeps Growing

NEWBURGH – Ferry Godmother Production announces the Ferry Godmother Music Circuit will finally return to where it all began at Unico Park on the Newburgh waterfront. Walker Valley Marching Band will set off Newburgh’s premier music concert series which opens Friday, August 16th 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. With Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield as premier sponsor of the 12th Annual Newburgh Jazz Series, the Orange County Pop, Rock & Doowop Series, and the Newburgh Jewish Music Series will once again offer a star-studded line-up. The concerts are free, great for all-ages, and a bring your own chair event for non-members. A VIP tent is available for members, sponsors and the elite music lovers, front row seating, chairs, and beverages are provided. After the final concert in 2011 the Ferry Godmother, concert’s executive producer was asked to take the concerts away from the waterfront. There were many offers from others to bring the well know concert, including the city of Peekskill, county executive of Sullivan county and town of Shawangunk. But former Orange County Executive Eddie Diana rescued the concert series, wanting to ensure it would not leave the county of its origin. Mr. Diana made the way for the concerts to be relocated to the Orange County Park, the Arboretum in Montgomery NY.

Now in its 12th year, the Ferry Godmother Music Circuit has solidified its status as a leading outdoor jazz, oldies, gospel and Jewish music event, drawing thousands of music fans each year. The Ferry Godmother Music Circuit will feature live national and local bands performing on an outdoor stage in historic Newburgh waterfront area. Since its inception, the creator and Executive Producer Aquanetta Wright, fondly known as the “Ferry Godmother” has established each of the music series which includes jazz, oldies, doowop, gospel, latin and Jewish music as leaders in showcasing live musician veterans and also an opportunity for emerging artists to showcase.
