TOWSON, MD – Three Red Foxes found the back of the net, junior goalkeeper Abigail Renaud made six saves in a shutout, and Marist dispatched Towson 3-0 on the road in the 2019 season opener.
With the win, the Red Foxes start the season 1-0, while Towson drops to 0-2 on the season.
Renaud’s first save came on an acrobatic dive to her right, denying Demi Pierre of a point-blank opportunity with about nine minutes left until halftime.
After senior captain Bianca Furci changed the field to put the Red Foxes on offense, sophomore midfielder Abby Murphy fed her sprinting classmate, forward Kaylin Sperley (Vancouver, WA / Prairie High School). Sperley converted in the 66th minute.
In the 83rd minute, freshman forward Leah Barbieri worked inside the corner and flicked a shot over goalkeeper Lindsey Pazdziorko.
Marist visits its second-consecutive CAA foe on Friday, August 30, taking on Drexel at 7:00 pm.
