Guishard Named to Alzheimer’s Advisory Board

The Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter has named Dozene Guishard of New Rochelle chairwoman of its advisory board of directors. She takes over as board chair from Barry Meiselman of Scarsdale, who held the position from July 2016-19 and now serves as chairman of the planning committee for the Westchester Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Guishard is the director of Health and Wellness Initiatives at Carter Burden Network (CBN) and co-principal investigator to an Administration on Community Living funded Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) project of CBN. She leads CBN’s Health and Wellness Initiatives through strategic partnership development, program design and implementation, research and evaluation. She previously served as director of CBN Metro East 99th Street Adult Day Program, which supported the transition of long-term care residents to independent community living in an affordable housing development.

Prior to joining CBN, Guishard was executive director of the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services’ award-winning Livable Communities project.

“We are so thrilled to have Dozene at the helm of our board of directors,” said David Sobel, president and CEO of the Hudson Valley Chapter. “Her background makes her exceptionally well-qualified for this role, and I look forward to working with her in this new capacity.”

Guishard has conducted research and co-authored articles and publications on multiple aging–related topics and strategic partnership development. She has held a variety of adjunct faculty positions at Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging and Longevity of Hunter College, and Monroe College School of Allied Health Professions.

She presently serves on Metropolitan Hospital Center, New York Health + Hospitals Community Advisory Board and One City Health Strategic Advisory Workgroup. She is also chairwoman of the Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Guishard earned her doctorate from St. John Fisher College in executive leadership, a master’s degree in gerontological administration from the New School University and a bachelor’s degree in social gerontology from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
