Cody Gibbs Earns Eagle Scout Rank

LAGRANGEVILLE – On Thursday, November 8, 2019, Cody Amahn Gibbs, a 15 years old, sophomore at Arlington High School earned his Eagle Scout rank, the highest rank in Boy Scouts.

Cody, a Town of Poughkeepsie resident, began his Scouting journey as a Tiger Cub Scout in Pack 122 (Arlington Reformed Church is the Chartering Organization). He journeyed through the Cub Scout ranks earning his Arrow of Light badge as a Webelos II Scout.

After Cub Scouts, Cody crossed the bridge into Boy Scouts. He joined Boy Scout Troop 275 (Elks Lodge #275 is the Chartering Organization) where he quickly progressed and advanced ranks while earning numerous Merit Badges.

While in Boy Scouts, Cody served in numerous Leadership Positions including Den Chief for the 5th grade Den in Cub Scout Pack 122, Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. In June 2019, Cody was presented with the Troop’s Scout of the Year Award.

For his Eagle Project, Cody, along with numerous volunteers, built two (2) baseball dugouts in Riverview Park (Town of Poughkeepsie Park located in New Hamburg). The two (2) day project yielded wonderfully made dugouts to benefit all baseball teams.

Cody, also a published author (https://www.amazon.com/Guilt-Mr-Cody-Amahn-Gibbs/dp/1508583625), has three (3) brothers. His brother, Brandon, received his Eagle Scout rank on July 17, 2017. Cody’s proud parents are Robert and Nyhisha Gibbs.
