GOSHEN – While the school year may be in full swing, students’ need for supplies continues throughout the year. Students from John S. Burke Catholic High School helped celebrate the season of giving by delivering a generous donation of new school supplies to Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster’s Goshen office. The supplies were collected by members of the high school’s football and volleyball teams. Hundreds of items were collected, including notebooks, binders, backpacks, and pens.
“We are grateful to Burke High School’s football and volleyball team members for coordinating a school supply drive,” said Michael Peters, Resource Exchange Coordinator for Catholic Charities. “It is heart-warming to see young people work together in service to their community in order to lend a helping hand to those in need. These new school supplies will help students who might otherwise go without have a greater chance for success at school.”
Each year, Catholic Charities hosts a Back-to-School supply drive to help students in need start the school year off equipped for success. The donated supplies are distributed to children of families served by Catholic Charities throughout Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties. In addition to school supplies, throughout the year Catholic Charities is the beneficiary of other collection drives including food, coat, socks, hygiene items, and more.
