MONTGOMERY – Students at Valley Central High School in Montgomery didn’t waste any time to snap into action and raise money for Puerto Rico aid following the recent earthquake on the island.
A check for $1,000 was presented to Ruben Estrada of Monroe, founder of Helping Hands for Puerto Rico.
“We were established in 2017 as a result of Hurricane Maria. We began in Orange County and based in Puerto Rico. We recently had an event here call a Zumba-thon and we raised more money there,” he said.
In total, the Valley Central efforts raised $1,500 for Puerto Rico aid and Estrada anticipates raising additional funds.
