Nuvance Health Donates AED to Women’s Shelter

POUGHKEEPSIE – In honor of American Heart Month, Nuvance Health wished to make a lasting and vital impact on the communities it serves with the gift of an automated external defibrillator to the Grace Smith House, a shelter for victims of domestic violence.

On Wednesday, February 19, the defibrillator, known as an AED, was donated to the shelter, where it will be located to help visitors in the event of a cardiac emergency.

“We hope the defibrillator is never put to use, but in the event one of our residents should need it, Nuvance Health’s donation gives us a sense of security knowing this lifesaving device is nearby,” said Branka Bryan, the shelter’s executive director. “We are extremely grateful to Nuvance Health for their donation to our community.”

Tim Massie, senior vice president of marketing, public affairs and government relations for Nuvance Health and Heart Center cardiologist Dr. Sunny Intwala presented the AED to Bryan and Nina Schutzman, development coordinator, at the February Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce Contact Breakfast.

The event was held at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel and Conference Center.
