James Dorman Britton (Jimmy)

James Dorman Britton (Jimmy) was born in the Bronx, New York to Stephen McCoy Britton and Ethel Holloway on May 30, 1933. He graduated from Morris High School. At the age of 17 he was baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist church and attended
Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama.

Jimmy married Eleanor Davis in 1957. They had eight children, Lauris, Glenda, Talitha, Michael, Quintessa, Katrina, Tawanna and Leilani. He was a big proponent of Christian education, having financed all eight of his children through Seventh-day Adventist schools.

He served as an elder at Newburgh Tabernacle S.D.A Church in Newburgh, NY for 40 years.

He went to sleep in Jesus on March 24th, 2020. He is preceded in death by both his parents, his wife of 40 years, and all his siblings and their spouses. He leaves, 8 children, 19 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. “Maranatha,” the Lord is Coming! “…He shall enter into peace; They shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.” Isaiah 57:1, 2 “…Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord… they may rest from their labors and their works follow them. “ Revelation 14:13

A private graveside service was held at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Huntsville, Alabama.
