Passing of Legislator Barbara Jeter-Jackson

POUGHKEEPSIECity of Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison, who served with Dutchess County Legislator Barbara Jeter-Jackson, spoke of her commitment to the City of Poughkeepsie.

Barbara Jeter-Jackson embodied the best of public service. She dedicated her life to helping others and made the City of Poughkeepsie – and our region – stronger through her selfless work. I am deeply saddened by her loss. She was a dear friend, and someone the community could always count on to provide clear guidance.

“We all learned from Barbara. She and I worked together for many years in the Dutchess County Legislature, and her dedication to representing the City of Poughkeepsie was inspiring and a shining example of how to lead. She had a calming influence on any situation, and she made us all better by working tirelessly as a uniter. Lori and I are saddened by this incalculable loss to the community,” Rolison said.

Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro said of the passing of Jeter-Jackson, “Today we are filled with great sorrow as we mourn the loss of Dutchess County Legislator Barbara Jeter-Jackson.

“She embodied the very spirit of resilience, dignity and grace. She was unflinching advocate, partner and friend.

“With a servant’s heart, she led, guided and cared. A mother to many, she made an immeasurable difference in the life of our county, the city she loved and lives she touched.

“She was a friend, partner in service and in many important ways, mentor. While she is at peace, she is as she believed fervently, at home with her God.”
