A State of Emergency was declared in the City of Newburgh in mid-March and the declaration implemented limitations on city government operations to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Almost all transactions remained available without interruption and city staff used the time to streamline operations to facilitate better access to services that can be handled remotely. Staff in diverse departments, including Water and Planning & Development, successfully transitioned to providing services while working from home.

Many city government transactions can be conducted via phone, email, and through the city website. People are encouraged to call ahead to see if they can save time and skip the trip to our offices. A list of phone numbers for city departments can be found on the city website at www.cityofnewburgh-ny.gov.

People who have questions or concerns about city operations during the reopening process are encouraged to call the City Manager’s Office at 845-569-7301.
