Senator James Skoufis Hosts Free Shred Event

NEWBURGH – Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley), in partnership with Legal Shred and the Hudson Valley Credit Union, hosted a free shredding event outside his district office in the City of Newburgh. Over 100 residents made appointments to shred and recycle personal and legal documents.

Securely shredding personal documents can be an expensive and arduous task which is why Skoufis worked with these community partners to make this event free and open to the public. Legal Shred set up a mobile shredding truck outside Senator Skoufis’ office for the event to take place in a safe and socially-distant way. Thanks to everyone who participated, we helped save approximately 35 trees and six cubic yards of landfill, about 4,000 pounds total.

“I’m so grateful to Legal Shred and the Hudson Valley Credit Union for partnering with us to make this event so successful,” said Senator Skoufis. “Shred events are great because residents can securely dispose of personal documents while also contributing to helping the environment. I’ll continue to work to bring events such as these to our communities at no cost.”

Judith H. Papo, the Owner, and President of Legal Shred said, “Legal Shred is a family-owned business with its roots in the Hudson Valley and our hearts too! It has been our privilege and our pleasure to partner with Senator Skoufis to provide confidential records destruction to our community. Identity theft is expensive and stressful and we appreciate the opportunity to be part of the solution.”

As this was a highly requested and attended event, Senator Skoufis plans to host another shred event in the near future.
