Bonura is Ready to Sign Poughkeepsie Deal

POUGHKEEPSIE – One day after the Poughkeepsie Common Council blindsided developer Joseph Bonura, Jr., whose company, Bonura Hospitality Group, has plans to redevelop the DeLaval property, the last parcel of vacant land on the waterfront, said he is ready to sign the final deal.

The common council voted to give him 45 days to work out a final deal and PILOT agreement with the city’s Industrial Development Agency.

Bonura said Tuesday that he is ready to sign on the dotted line and move the project forward.

“If we go with the original plan, everything was agreed to and approved in 2009, so we don’t have to work anything out. We just have to physically make copies of the lease and PILOT agreement, they have to be signed and it’s done,” he said.

If all goes well, Bonura said they could have a shovel in the ground by mid-2021.
