Seven Year Old’s Death is Being Investigated

NEWBURGH – As Newburgh City Police continue to investigate the cause of death of a seven-year-old boy who was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday morning, the Newburgh school district issued a statement on Friday saying it is “deeply saddened” by the loss of the Temple Hill Elementary School student.

Police have not provided any of the details of the incident and the investigation is ongoing. Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler has said the death is being looked into as “neglect and a potential crime.”

The school district statement, which extended condolences to family and loved ones, said, “A death at such a young age is a true tragedy. Support services for those who may need to process this loss are available, both in-person and virtually as needed. Any families whose children need support should reach out to their school building to be connected with appropriate support services.”
