Whether Dead Or Alive Black Folk Really Don’t Matter

In 2008, during the building of the city of Newburgh’s Courthouse, located on Broadway and Robinson Avenue, excavators found around 17 bodies underneath that old building which was being remodeled to become the new courthouse. Previously that building used to be Broadway school. Wow! Those bodies were determined to be the remains of African Americans from the 19th century. Wow!

In a news article former city manager Jean-Ann McGrane said, “We do not want future generations to have to revisit this, and to wonder as we have, why this historic burial ground, and those buried here, received so little respect.”

Here we are now in 2021, thirteen years later, and still no genuine respect has been rendered towards those bodies and also the remaining African American bodies that still remain under that courthouse building up to this present time. Wow! Truthfully, this should not be surprising, for very little respect has ever been shown towards us African Americans then and now. How long is it going to take us “Black” folks to realize that “We” have “Never” really mattered except to be used in one way or another by the “Powers” that be. Throughout the years, since our people were stolen from Africa and brought here, we have “Never” mattered. In fact, their animals have been treated better than they have treated us. How long is it going to take us “Black” folks to realize this? To this let me absolutely say not “All” White folks are like this, but a large majority are. This “Racist” mentality has been passed down from generation to generation. Do “They” ever want to be set free from this sad “Racist” mentality or are “They” satisfied with continuing to remain just the way that they are? “Lord Have Mercy!”

Truthfully, to them “Black Lives” are to be used to fill their prisons which enables a large proportion of them to make a living. Throughout the country the “Majority” that work inside those prisons are the children of the “Slave” masters. In fact, police, prisons and the whole “Criminal Justice” system was put in place to keep the majority of “Us” Black folks under their control. Wow!

Here’s some other interesting historical information re: this same issue: “In 1697 Africans were not allowed to bury their dead in what had become New York City’s primary burial ground. Dead or alive, Whites did not want us near them except to be their Slaves. In New York City there is an African Burial Ground National Monument. The site contains the remains of more than 419 Africans buried during the late 17th and 18th centuries in a portion of what was the largest colonial-era cemetery for people of African descent, some free, most enslaved.

Historians estimate there may have been as many as 10,000-20,000 buried in what was called the “Negro Burial Ground” in the 1700’s. The five to six acre site’s excavation and study was called “the most important historic urban archaeological project in the United States.” The Burial Ground site is New York’s earliest known African- American “cemetery”; studies show an estimated 15,000 African American people were buried here.

The discovery highlighted the forgotten history of enslaved Africans in colonial and federal New York City, who were integral to its development. By the American Revolutionary War, they constituted nearly a quarter of the population in the city. New York had the second largest number of enslaved Africans in the nation after Charleston, South Carolina. The site was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1993 and a National Monument in 2006 by President George W. Bush.

To “All” of this I ask, “When are those “Black” bodies, which were found under the city of Newburgh’s courthouse on Broadway, going to be returned to their resting place? How many more years is it going to take before this is done? This is totally inhumane, but not very surprising for inhumanity has “Always” been displayed towards us as a people. Why? Why are we hated and despised so badly? Is it due to the fact that our presence in this country is a constant reminder of the disgraceful inhumanity displayed towards our forefathers by your forefathers? The “Real” sad part in “All” of this is that many of them professed from generation to generation to be Christians. Wow! Lord have mercy.

“America, my country tis of thee,” when will you acknowledge your inhumanity towards we African Americans? When, if ever, will you look upon us as being your fellowman? When will you acknowledge that love for “Us” that our Heavenly Father “Commanded?” Look up and know and realize that “All” of this will be winding down very soon. In fact, sooner than most realize. The above words that I have shared with you are not coming forth from a “hateful” heart, but a very “painful” one. The things that we now are presently seeing going on all around us in this world, are the “warning” signs that our Heavenly Father warned us about in His “Word!” We “All” better look up and know that our redemption is nigh, for the “Son” of man, Jesus Christ, is most definitely on His way back. “He’s Coming Soon!” Yes! Yes! Yes!
