Allie Salamone Sets Three School Records

WEST POINT – Senior Allie Salamone continued her dominance of the field events on Thursday, setting three school records for the Knights, as the Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Track and Field team competed at the West Point Twilight Meet hosted by Army West Point.

Salamone broke two of her own records on Thursday and broke a mark that had stood since 2012. She broke her own previous school record in the Hammer Throw, set on April 17 at Delhi, with a heave of 43.03 meters on Thursday, good for a fifth place finish in the event.

Salamone would go on to set new standards in the Shot Put and Discus later in the meet.

Her Shot Put mark of 11.47 meters eclipsed the previous mark set in 2012 before she topped her own Discus mark, set in 2019, with a toss of 36.07 meters. Salamone finished sixth for the Knights in the Discus and seventh in the Shot Put on Thursday.

Mount Saint Mary also received a pair of strong showings on the track Thursday evening. Joanne Kubat took fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 20.81 seconds and Samantha Papadopoulos ran to a fifth place finish in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase with a time of 14:35.22.
