College Inducts Second Class Into Chi Alpha Sigma

NEWBURGH – Prior to its Fall and Winter Senior Celebration last Tuesday night, the Mount Saint Mary College Athletic Department welcomed 21 student-athletes into Chi Alpha Sigma, New York Alpha Si Chapter.

Chi Alpha Sigma was established to recognize college student-athletes who excel in both the classroom and the field of play.

Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes student-athletes who receive a varsity letter in their sport, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full-time semester and earn a 3.4 or better cumulative grade point average.

Selection for membership into Chi Alpha Sigma is by an athletic department designee in consultation with the student-athlete’s head coach and is based on outstanding scholarship, earned athletic letter and excellent character and citizenship.

In its first class, inducted in 2020, the Mount welcomes 48 student-athletes covering 20 of its 21 varsity sports. The 2021 class represents nine varsity sports with Women’s Basketball leading the way with five inductees.
