Beacon Has Restarted the Free Bulk Garbage Drop-Off

BEACON – Mayor Lee Kyriacou has announced that the City of Beacon is launching its annual free bulk garbage drop-off for Beacon residents who are paid in full on property taxes.
Starting Saturday, May 15, the City will accept at no cost up to 250 pounds of materials at the Transfer Station located at 90 Dennings Avenue. The Transfer Station is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and the free drop off will run through September 18, 2021.

The following items will be accepted under this program without cost: Appliances (Freon and non-Freon); Car batteries; Cardboard –corrugated, paperboard, etc. (e.g.,cereal boxes); Construction and demolition debris; Furniture and household furnishings, including mattresses; Garbage•Metal, scrap (minimal fee); Newsprint, office paper, junk mail, magazines, catalogs; Recyclables; Tires; Wood waste; and Yard waste.

The Transfer Station does not accept explosives, household hazardous waste, motor oil, or pesticides. Electronic waste collection is available for a small fee for the following items: Cell phones, telephones, computers, monitors, keyboards, servers; Copiers, printers, fax machines, modems; DVD players, stereo equipment, radios; Televisions, VCRs; Power supplies; Scanners; and wires.
