Poughkeepsie Student Art, Music is Featured

POUGHKEEPSIE – Poughkeepsie High School is proud to share examples of student artwork and music with the public.

“Viewing what PCSD students can do when provided with opportunity and access is simply amazing”, said Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, superintendent of schools.

The PHS Art Show 2020-21 includes work created during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years. Since students weren’t necessarily in a classroom, they learned alternative ways to create art using a computer. They made posters using Google Slides, Pixel Art with Google Sheets and mandalas and Pop Art with Sketchpad.

Joe North, music department chairman, put together a five-minute video showcasing some of the work students created. You can view and listen to the Spring Showcase from the district website.. The video showcases pieces performed by flute, saxophone, violin, trumpet, choir and the hybrid wind ensemble.

Kudos to all the students who participated and to the teachers who helped guide them.
