Earlier this month the Citizens Coin Advisory Committee (CCAC) and the Committee on Fine Arts (CFA), the two federally established committees that advise the U.S. Mint on coin designs, weighed in on the proposed renderings for the 2022 National Purple Heart Hall of Honor Commemorative Coin Program.
During the committee meetings, Honor Mission Executive Director Russell Vernon, who is acting as the liaison between the Honor Mission and the U.S. Mint, shared with both committees the preferred designs selected by our Purple Heart recipients. Committee members joined the Honor Mission in recommending gold, silver and clad coin sets for the forthcoming commemorative coin series.
This is the first step in the design process that will culminate later this year with an announcement by the Secretary of the Treasury of the final coin designs for the 2022 Purple Heart commemorative coin series.
