Rosser’s Contract is Extended For Five Years

POUGHKEEPSIE – Superintendent Dr. Eric Rosser has had his contract extended five years during a July 1 meeting of the Poughkeepsie City School District Board of Education (the board). The board said the extension ensures stability and leadership in the district.

Rosser came to the struggling district in 2019 after serving as Associate Superintendent in the Buffalo School District in Western New York.

“This will allow this administration to see the five-year plan I presented to the board and community when I started, through to completion and continue the work to transform our schools into 21st-century learning centers,” said Rosser.

The unanimous approval by the board was not carried out with the same extended celebration that welcomed Rosser to the district in the summer of 2019. Board member Thomas O’Neill paid homage to the leader, calling Rosser “One of the best things to happen to this community in a long time.” The former city judge continued, adding “He has shown himself to be an exceptional servant through his commitment to the children of our community and a commitment to the community as a whole.”

Rosser’s new term of employment will be for five years starting July 1, 2021, and ending June 30, 2026.
