New “Frontier” for Stewart Airport Has Begun

NEW WINDSOR – Frontier Airlines announced last Tuesday that it plans to begin nonstop service to three Florida destinations from New York Stewart International Airport.

The low-cost carrier will begin service to Orlando on October 25, to Miami on November 2 and to Tampa on November 2 with introductory fares starting at $39.

Frontier’s Scott Fisher was at Stewart on Tuesday and said the Hudson Valley is a “phenomenal destination” and their service will make travel to and from the region that much more convenient.

“The origin market here that has had to deal with the commutes down to the larger facilities and the larger airports, specifically Newark and across a both LaGuardia and JFK, battling that commute can be a nightmare,” he said.

The airline said it offers customers the ability to customize travel to their needs and budget. Customers can purchase options ‘a la carte’ or in one low-priced bundle called the WORKS.

That includes refundability, a carry-on bag, checked back, available seat, waved change fees, and priority boarding.

“Frontier’s arrival to New York Stewart International Airport will benefit not only Orange County, but the entire region,” said Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus. “Frontier’s new flight service to Florida will create new opportunities for tourism, business, and economic development.”

“Frontier Airlines is the first new airline to join the airport since we launched our new incentive program,” Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton said. “New York Stewart is a catalyst for growth in the region, and the travel and tourism industry is integral to fueling our economic recovery.

We remain committed to building on our strategic plan for the airport and look forward to providing customers more travel options.”

As a low-cost carrier, baggage and advance seat assignments are available for purchase separately at an additional charge.

There will be four flights weekly to Orlando and three flights each to Miami and Tampa.
