Knights Score Two Wins to Close Out Invitational

NEW PALTZ – Junior Grace Riddle put away 45 kills over two matches as the Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Volleyball team posted wins over Sage and Alfred to close out play at the New Paltz Hawks Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Knights outlasted the Gators 25-19, 20-25, 27-25, 20-25 and 15-7 before topping Alfred 18-25, 25-16, 25-23 and 25-23.

Saturday’s results push Mount Saint Mary to 4-2 on the season and in the process snapped a three match losing streak to Sage and picked up its third win in the last four tries against Alfred.

Against Sage
The Knights put away 59 kills and hit .159 against the Gators.

The Mount put away at least 10 kills in four of the five frames against Sage, including 10 while hitting .364 in the decisive fifth set.

For The Knights
Riddle put together her strongest offensive match of the season against the Gators, putting away 24 kills and hitting .273.

Riddle added two aces, a block and a career-high 24 digs.

Jackie Wolf continued the strong start to her career with a career-high 13 kills, adding four service aces and a career-high 19 digs.

Renee Hydo supported the win with seven kills and 10 digs.

Stephanie Mele and Sabrina Romano each finished with six kills

Alyssa Barbara rounded out a strong match with a season-high 26 digs, one off her career-high, while contributing two aces and a pair of assists.

Fran Cammarata also had a career-day with 49 assists, finishing off a double-double with 13 digs.

For Sage
Emma Parkington led the team with 17 kills and recorded nine digs.
Celia Gagnon chipped in 12 winners and three blocks and Sydney Shepard added eight kills.

Elaina Moisdis lifted a match-high 31 digs

Statia Walker handed out 36 assists and lifted 16 digs.

Match Statistics
The Knights held the advantage in kills 59-49 and attack percentage .159-.119
Mount Saint Mary posted a 9-6 advantage in service aces.

Total team blocks in the match went to Sage 4-3.

Alfred
After dropping the first set, the Mount rebounded to claim the next three frames to sweep the day.

The Knights picked up at least 10 kills in three of the four stanzas, including 13 in both the third and fourth frames.

The Knights hit a match-best .207 in the second set.

For The Knights
Riddle closed the day with 21 more kills, hitting .298 in the process, and added nine digs.
Wolf picked up 10 more kills for the Mount, closing out another double-double with 15 digs.

Hydo lifted a team-high 19 digs and supported the offense with five kills.

Barbara added 16 digs for the Knights and joined Wolf with a team-high three service aces.

Cammarata posted her second double-double of the day with 34 assists to go along with 15 digs.

For Alfred
Sarah Raeman led the Saxons with 15 winners with Mykayla Deyarmin adding seven kills.

Darian Ortiz led all players with 22 digs.

Amanda Burns finished a solid match with 31 assists and 12 digs.
