The Mount Has Strong Day in Pennsylvania

WILKES-BARRE, PA. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Swimming team closed out the second day of events at the Diamond City Invitational on Saturday in ninth place with 229 points. Jillian Bunch recorded the team’s best individual finish of the day, taking fourth in the 200-yard freestyle.

Mount Saint Mary opened competition in the three-day event on Friday with a seventh place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Emily Gursky, Emily Crowley, Bunch and Kristen Dwight completed the event in a time of 2:07.75.

The Knights turned in two more strong relay performances on Saturday, taking eighth in the 200-yard freestyle race and ninth in the 400-yard medley event. Friday’s medley team completed the freestyle event in a time of 1:52.63, while the quartet of Gursky, Catherine Masayda, Bunch and Dwight posted a time of 4:39.96 in the medley race.

Bunch had a strong day individually on Saturday, adding an 11th place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. Her fourth place swim came in 2:06.03 and her freestyle race concluded in a time of 5:49.28.

Crowley posted a 12th place finish for the Mount in the 100-yard breaststroke on Saturday and Masayda scored a 15th place finish in the 200-yard individual medley and a 16th place finish in the 100-yard butterfly. Crowley completed the breaststroke race in 1:17.48 with Masayda showing times of 2:30.99 and 1:09.46, respectively.

Dwight completed a strong day for the Mount with a 21st place finish in the 500-yard freestyle and a 19th place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. She completed the 500-yard race in 6:19.80 and the 200-yard event in 2:33.34.

Gursky also scored in a pair of individual events for the Mount, taking the 21st position in the 200-yard individual medley and the 20th spot in the 200-yard freestyle. She completed the IM in 2:41.17 and followed Dwight in the freestyle race with a time of 2:34.45.
