Marist Red Foxes Fall to the Manhattan Jaspers

RIVERDALE – The Marist women’s basketball team fell Saturday afternoon to the Manhattan Jaspers, 72-45, at Draddy Gymnasium in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action. With the loss, the Red Foxes move to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in MAAC play.

Cold shooting doomed the Red Foxes in the first half, as Marist was held to .171 percent from the field (6-for-35) and didn’t connect from three-point range (0-11) in the first two quarters.

Manhattan shot 11-for-38 (.289) from the field in the first half and 2-for-9 (.222) from deep to take a 26-14 lead into halftime.

The Red Foxes would turn it around on the offensive end in third quarter, scoring 20 points on 7-for-17 shooting (.412) but the Jaspers kept their own offensive momentum going, scoring 21 of their own on 8-for-15 (.533) shooting.

Manhattan would score the first 10 points of the fourth quarter, extend its lead, and hold on for the home victory.

The Red Foxes return home to host Siena on Thursday, January 13th. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at McCann Arena.
