HAMMOND, LA – The Marist softball team was defeated by Southeastern Louisiana, 4-2, in its final game of the Lion Classic II Tournament on Sunday morning.

The Red Foxes went 2-3 in the tournament, and are now 7-8 on the season.

Madison Rayner’s RBI double got the Lions on the board in the bottom of the first.

Southeastern Louisiana advanced its lead to 3-0 in the second with a pair of unearned runs.

Bailey Krolczyk’s RBI single gave the Lions a 4-0 advantage in the third.

Marist rallied in the sixth. Shea Walsh reached on a one-out error, and Sam Freeland followed with a bunt single. Caroline Baratta followed with an RBI single. That, plus a resulting error, allowed both Walsh and Freeland to score.

Hailee Jantorno later walked and stole second to give Marist runners on second and third with two outs, but the Red Foxes were unable to push any more runs across in the sixth. They ended up going down in order in the seventh to close the game.
