MSMC Blue Knights Falter On Final Day In Florida

CLERMONT, FL – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team closed out its spring trip to Florida on Thursday, dropping non-conference decisions to Stockton, Plattsburgh and Lasell. The Knights completed the seven-game trip with a 1-6 overall record.

Stockton 3 – Mount Saint Mary 0
Stockton picked up a pair of runs in the home half of the first and limited Mount Saint Mary to just two hits in the game.

The Ospreys recorded two hits in the first and took advantage of an error, scoring both runs on RBI groundouts.

The Ospreys closed out the scoring in the game in the fourth when Kayla Posten delivered a one-out RBI single through the middle.

For The Knights
Olivia Ferara recorded both Mount Saint Mary hits, finishing 2-for-3.

Samantha Bendig reached with a walk.

Bridget Morris suffered the loss in the circle, working 3.1 innings and allowing one earned run on six hits.

Christen Hansen came on to work 2.2 scoreless innings of relief.

Plattsburgh 5 – Mount Saint Mary 1
The Cardinals scored a single run in each of their first two-at-bats to open a 2-0 advantage.

Plattsburgh jumped in front 3-0 with a run in the sixth before the Mount got on the board in the home half of the inning with its only tally of the game.

Lauren Dentato delivered Jessica Ehret with a one-out single in the frame.

The Cardinals spread its lead to the final 5-1 decision in the seventh with an RBI double from Dimitra Mouhteros and a run scoring single from Alexa Murray.

For The Knights
Ferara picked up two more hits in the second game of the day, going 2-for-4.

Dentato wrapped up the contest 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk.

Nicole Rosner added a hit and a walk for the Knights.

Rosner took the loss in the circle, surrendering one earned run on four hits in 4.2 innings of work.

Lasell 11 – Mount Saint Mary 2 (F/6)
Lasell opened the game up early with five runs in the top of the first, adding two tallies in the third and four more in the fifth to open an 11-0 advantage.

Matara Tamzarian drove in a run in the big first inning with a triple.

Mackenzie Still delivered a run with one of 10 walks issued by the Knights in the game.

Tamzarian was in the middle of the fifth inning rally with a two-run single.

Mount Saint Mary scratched out two runs in the home half of the fifth, getting a two-run doubled from Ferara.

For The Knights
Ferara finished off a big day 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI for the Knights.

Jenna Cedeno recorded the only other hit in the game for the Mount.

Hansen took the loss in the final game of the day, allowing three earned runs in an inning of work.
