Marist Baseball Splits Their Doubleheader

LOUDONVILLE – The Marist baseball team split its doubleheader with Siena on Saturday, winning the first 6-3 and losing the second 4-2.

GAME ONE
Marist 6, Siena 3
W: Jack Bowery (2-0), L: Mike McCully (1-4).

Gene Napolitano singled to right center field, scoring two runs in the second inning.

In the bottom half, Siena scored a run on a wild pitch.

In the third, Dylan Hoy scored Brian Hart on a single to left field.

Hoy singled again in the fifth for another RBI.

Siena scored two runs in the fifth, on an error and a sac fly.

In the sixth inning, Nathan Lincoln scored on a wild pitch. Napolitano scored Lincoln on a single.

Gene Napolitano went 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs.

Dylan Hoy went 2-for-4 with a run and 2 RBIs. Hoy also stole two bases.

Jack Bowery went 5.1 innings. He gave up just two runs and struck out two as he got the win.

GAME TWO
Siena 4, Marist 2.
W: Arlo Marynczak (1-1), L: Nick Cantone (1-3).

Siena’s Nick Hohenstein homered off Erubiel Candelario to put the Saints up 1-0 in the second inning.

In the seventh, Nathan Lincoln came around to score on a sacrifice bunt by Reece Armitage after an errant throw by the Siena third baseman.

Later in that inning, Robbie Armitage scored Napolitano on a sac fly to left field to put Marist up 2-1.

In the bottom of the ninth, Siena’s Vincenzo Castronovo hit a three-run homer to right field to walk if off for the Saints.
