Leonard-Osbourne Leads the Men’s Track & Field

By Pete Colaizzo

NEW YORK – A small squad of Marist men’s track athletes participated in the Metropolitan Championships, scoring in every event and improving their marks in the process, on a mostly rainy and windy afternoon at Icahn Stadium.

Glenmour Leonard-Osbourne led the way with a school-record time in the 100-meter dash, winning in 10.39 seconds. This breaks his week-old record of 10.50, set at Colonial Relays.

He sprinted to the fastest time in the preliminary round as well (10.61 seconds). Later in the afternoon, Leonard-Osbourne won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.36 seconds.

The meet started with a second-place finish in the 4×100 relay, held in a driving rain with puddles on the Icahn track. The team of Reed Dexter, Leonard-Osbourne, Jared Tomasetti and Jeremy Mooney sprinted to a time of 43.03 seconds.

Later in the afternoon, under sunny skies, three Red Fox distance runners set personal-best times and notched scoring places in the 5,000-meter run. Daniel Czop placed fifth in 15:26.07, John Ignacz was sixth in 15:28.42 and Jon Kittredge was seventh in 15:30.59.

The track team returns to action next Friday and Saturday at the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell University.
