IMPACT!, ICF, and other partners are proposing a community e-bike program to launch in Newburgh as part of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA’s) Clean Neighborhoods Challenge. The Clean Neighborhood Challenge will provide $10 million in funding to each winning project that will expandaccess to clean and healthy transportation options. Everyone in Newburgh over the age of 18 will be welcome to participate in the program. If awarded, the program will provide:
• Free E-bike Lending Library: Borrow an e-bike completely free of charge for up to several weeks to see how it could fit into your routine! You’ll get safety training and lots of support.
• E-Bike Discount Program: Once you’ve borrowed an e-bike from the lending library, you can get a significant discount to purchase an e-bike from a local retailer. Discounts could range from $400 to $2,000 depending on income level.
• Plan for Safer Streets for Biking: We’ll work with the City of Newburgh and community members like you to plan for bike lanes, bike parking, e-bike charging, and other facilities to make it easier to get around by bike.
IMPACT! and ICF are hosting an E-bike Listening Session to gather feedback on the proposed program and to answer questions. The event will be held at the Newburgh Urban Farming Fair and Family Reading Day on April 30th from noon to 4:00 pm. The Urban Farming fair will take place at Downing Park Urban Farm on 207 Carpenter Ave, and Family Reading Day, Celebration of the Day of the Child, will be at the Newburgh Free Library Plaza.
