Marist Softball Season Comes to End

BUFFALO – The Marist softball team had its season come to an end on Friday. The fifth-seeded Red Foxes fell to third-seeded Siena, 3-1, on the third day of the MAAC Championship.

Shea Walsh walked to lead off the game. She stole second, went to third when the throw went into center, and scored on a two-out single by Miah McDonald.

In the bottom of the second, Emma McLaughlin’s two-out single brought home Shannon Bonewit, which tied the score at one.

The Red Foxes loaded the bases in the top of the fourth, but were unable to score.

Siena scored twice in the bottom of the fourth. Jocelyn Ulrich’s double brought home Mikala Fletcher, and Ulrich later came around to score.

The Red Foxes were retired in order in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.

Siena outhit Marist, 6-3.
Kiley Myers pitched a complete game for the Red Foxes, and threw just 69 pitches in her six innings, 52 of which were strikes. Myers struck out two, walked none, and one of the two runs she permitted was unearned.

McDonald had two of Marist’s three hits.

Ava Fitzmaurice pitched a complete game for Siena.

Marist finished the season at 25-30.

Following Saturday’s championship game, Alyssa Grupp and Miah McDonald were named to the MAAC All-Championship Team.
