KINGSTON – Congressman-elect and outgoing Ulster County Executive Patrick Ryan has endorsed former State Senator Jen Metzger for the Democratic nomination to succeed him.
Three Democrats are vying for the party endorsement, which will be decided in a party convention on September 17. Whoever receives that will effectively be the next county executive since no Republican has entered the race.
The other two Democratic candidates are County Comptroller March Gallagher and Deputy County Executive Marc Rider.
“I proudly endorse Jen Metzger for Ulster County executive because I know she will build upon the many successes that we have had here in Ulster County,” Ryan said. “Jen is a person of integrity, who brings great compassion to understanding the needs of the community. She has the experience and the drive to deliver results.”
Metzger said Ryan “has done so much for our county, and who will be the kind of leader we need in Congress at this critical moment for our nation. I hope to have the opportunity, if elected county executive, to build on his work here to create a sustainable, resilient, and thriving local economy that leaves no one behind.”
