Big Second Half Lifts Raptors Over Maritime, 4-1

THROGGS NECK – The Bard College women’s soccer team defeated Maritime College, 4-1, in a non-league game on Saturday afternoon.

Bard scored first, in the sixth minute, when Emma Kuntz sent Rylee Barber streaking toward goal on a breakaway, and she deftly push a shot inside the far post for a 1-0 lead.

Maritime equalized in the 17th minute, and it remained 1-1 at halftime.

The second half was a different story. Abby Frazier scored low to the keeper’s left from the right side, off an assist from Emma LaPenta, in the 58th minute. That was the eventual game-winner, but the Raptors weren’t done. Waleska Brito scored the first goal of her career from 25 yards out, and a couple of minutes later, Kylie Quinn half-volleyed a free kick taken by Bard keeper Seymone Rosenberg over the keeper’s head and in. Bard scored three goals in the space of about 13 minutes.

Sam Finn made one save in the first half, and Rosenberg picked up the win in the second half, without having to make a save. She did pick up an assist, though.
