By Mike Ferraro

MOREHEAD, KY – The Marist football team earned a 31-21 road victory at Morehead State in a Pioneer Football League contest on Saturday.

Glenmour Leonard-Osbourne scored two touchdowns – one rushing, one on a kickoff return – and accounted for 214 total yards to help the Red Foxes win their second straight and improve to 3-1 on the road this season.

On a fourth-and-one from the Marist 16 midway through the first quarter, Arthur Pinckney and Dominic Dutton combined to stop Zavier Lomax for a one-yard loss to force a turnover on downs.

Marist had the game’s first score 1:01 into the second quarter, when Brock Bagozzi connected with Scott Scherzer on a 17-yard touchdown pass. The drive started with a 36-yard pass from Bagozzi to Matt Stianche.

James Louis’ three-yard touchdown run with 4:22 left in the second quarter tied the score at seven.

Leonard-Osbourne returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown to give Marist a seven-point lead back.

A 10-yard touchdown pass from Colin Parachek to Christian Graves tied the score with 34 seconds left in the first half.

Isaiah Smith blocked a field goal on Morehead State’s first drive of the second half.

Leonard-Osbourne’s second touchdown of the day, a three-yard rushing score, gave Marist a 21-14 advantage with 1:56 left in the third quarter. The drive was extended on a roughing the punter penalty, and Bagozzi hit Brett Landis with a 32-yard strike on the next play to set up the touchdown.

On a fourth-and-three, Parachek found Graves for a seven-yard touchdown pass. This tied the score with 11:50 to go.

With 4:44 to go, Wyatt McMahon caught a nine-yard jump pass from Bagozzi to put Marist up 28-21. The two plays prior to the score were a 22-yard run by Leonard-Osbourne, and a 34-yard pass from Bagozzi to Landis.

With Morehead State driving, Jack Imbt forced a fumble on fourth-and-one from the Eagles’ 35. Since a fumble can not be advanced on fourth down, this resulted in a turnover on downs.

Luke Paladino closed out the scoring with a 46-yard field goal with 2:26 left.

Aaron Acosta recorded his second sack of the game to end Morehead State’s final drive.

Marist is now 4-5 overall and 4-3 in the PFL.

Marist plays its home finale on Saturday, Nov. 12 against Valparaiso.
