Yusuf House Donation Helps Additional Students

POUGHKEEPSIE – Yusuf House expanded its support of Poughkeepsie High School seniors this week by presenting new personal tablets to six additional students during a brief ceremony in the school auditorium.

Present for the ceremony were Randy Johnson, Dutchess County Legislator (9th District), and former PCSD Board Member, Yusuf House Founder Omega Alston, Yusuf House Board Member Pastor Curtis Whitted, PHS Principal Dr. Phee Simpson, Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, superintendent of schools, and Da’Ron Wilson, executive director of school engagement.

As with the presentation made last month, Yusuf House presented Lenovo Tab M10 Plus tablets to students who have demonstrated dedication to their school work with an expectation that these devices will aid them when they transition to a post-secondary institution at the conclusion of their high school career. Mr. Johnson presented students with certificates acknowledging the students accomplishments and also shared his appreciation of the support provided by Yusuf House (Yusuf House has donated laptops and musical instruments to PHS students in the past).

“The steady stream of community-based organizations that support student success is one of the many assets that the City of Poughkeepsie possesses. It reflects a common vision of school and community coming together to address the needs of children prenatal through college and career. Yusuf House is commended for all that it continues to do to support children” shared Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, superintendent of schools.
