Marist Sprint Medley Relay Team Sets Record

By Pete Colaizzo

STATEN ISLAND – The Marist College men’s track team closed out the 2022 calendar year in record-setting fashion on Friday afternoon at a meet hosted by Wagner College at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Center.

The sprint medley relay team of freshman Amari Mathis, junior Ryan Bahnsen, sophomore Easton Eberwein and sophomore Tyler Perry shattered the 6-year-old school record in the rarely run event, posting a time of 3:32.41. This bettered the 2016 mark of 3:33.93, set at the same meet.

There were several other personal-best times and strong performances on the day.
John Ignacz snagged a pair of personal-best times – in the mile run and the 3,000-meter run.

Also in the 3,000-meter run, Gabe Rodriguez, Steven Viera, Jack Parsons, Ian Wiesinger and Alexander Pattison notched personal-best times.

Eberwein and Bahnsen both ran best times in the 300-meter dash.

Noah Brown placed seventh in the pole vault, just one height away from his school record, set earlier this year.
